Skins: Teenagers on TV (US vs UK)

So after watching the British show Skins, I cannot help but think that there will probably never be any show like it in the US because American TV seems completely incapable of showing the lives of teenagers in anything resembling a realistic fashion.
Give me your thoughts on the differences in US vs international television.

I am from the uk, and skins uk is very true to real life in the uk, I doubt it is true to life in America (I am not being racist at all here) because in America you are so much more strict when it comes to sex, drugs, alcohol and smoking. In the uk. So I think the story line works in England, but in America it doesn't. I haven't seen the American series but I have seen the trailers and to be honest it looks crap.

@georgiegirlly Pretty sure we party like you lot, but our tv networks won't dwell into for a matter I have no clue. For some reason Amercian television doesn't delve completely into how us teens actually party and what we are like. I think they try to put us teens on a pedastool on how they wished we were like, but aren't. Cause trust me we like to have fun, drink, have sex, and do drugs too. America just has stupid censorship rules. Its lame

@georgiegirlly hahahaha Skins is the least true to real life TV show ever made. Even the Inbetweeners is more realistic than Skins and that had a guy punching a fish to death. How many groups of 16 year olds all have regular sex, go out drinking without getting ID'd ever, have access to and take every illegal drug, get hit by buses, have their parents divorce and die, get brain damage, attempt suicide, move to New York on no money, get pregnant... It goes on.
