Supercool misanthropic philosophy from Bongo Joe (George Coleman - not the sax-playing jazzer) dispensed while beating out heavy rhythms on a 55 gallon Texaco Firechief oil drum with sticks made of hammer handles with rubber chair leg caps and hand oil cans jammed onto them filled with pebble and B-B shot to provide that maraccas sound. And he wears a fez! The theme of this jam: human greed and obsession.

  • 97 hits below the radar and a recording on Arhoolie. Perfect for a genius of the streets.

  • That's dead right!

  • Check out 'Innocent Little Doggy', if you haven't already. I've put that one up too. It's only managed one star so far!!!

  • I met him once when I was a boy. He was performing on the streets of San Antonio. He gave me a confederate 20 dollar bill, and exclaimed that the 'South will rise again!' That seems kinda weird now that I think about it.
