Tales of Vesperia (PS3) - [Team Arena/Merciless/Unknown/No Items or Revive/Patty Only] - Ring a Bell

I JUST BEAT THE TEAM ARENA... ON MERCILESS RANK... ON UNKNOWN DIFFICULTY... WITHOUT USING A SINGLE ITEM... WITHOUT USING REVIVE... AND WITH PATTY... ALL... BY... HER... SELF!!!!!

Just Patty! Patty, Patty, Patty! No one else but Patty!

This was difficult, but after some Block Training, I was able to win (I don't use any of the block techniques if I recall excluding Block Cancelling). Patty's ability to get Overlimits without using the gauge is luck-based, so it can be as good as Yuri and Estelle's, or as weak as Karol and Raven's.

Getting the Overlimit this way is pretty easy when you are fighting one slow opponent. It gets difficult later on when fighting the cameo team or someone as annoying as Tison.

Schwann, Tison, Nan, Clint, and the entire cameo team can escape mid-combo and strike back, leading to painful combos that could kill you (or maybe will kill). When playing as Yuri, Estelle, Karol, Rita, or Raven, Judith will join Brave Vesperia in your character's absence, and I believe she can also escape combos, but not as well as others.

Keep this in mid when soloing the Team Arena:
- You will not fight Repede, Flynn, or Patty.
- One member of any team after the Stooges will enter Overlimit
- The Hunting Blades will more than likely not enter Overlimit (They need Karol for that)

Here's my thoughts when I was playing this alone
- Don't waste too much Overlimit before the Schwann Brigade.
- Get Schwann alone to defeat him easily without the Overlimit.
- Get Overlimit 4 before the Hunting Blades to kill one of the members quickly.
- Use Overlimit 4 to kill off or weaken Kratos and Dhaos.
- Get Overlimit 4 before Brave Vesperia with an Overlimit Gauge of 2-4.
- Defeat Estelle before she places Revive on anyone.

I may not be the best, but I did pretty good :D
Oh, and those little pause to the menu? That cuts any exploring I do in the menus short. It keeps the video going and prevents it from being longer than it would have been with the clips in. The clips where me just switching Patty's weapons.

The reason I have to switch Patty's weapon? Well...
Patty's fell arms has this strange ability. The ability has a chance of giving Patty an Lv.4 Overlimit without using the gauge or taking away the whole gauge with Patty's Overlimit... You read that correctly.

Patty's FELL ARM gives her the ability to get an Lv.4 Overlimit without using the gauge, or TAKE AWAY THE WHOLE GAUGE AND PATTY'S CURRENT OVERLIMIT. It's not worth it if you have an Overlimit gauge of 3 or higher. At Lv.3, you can just Form-Up into Lv.4. You can take the chance at 1-2, but good luck with that. My luck is bad, so most of the time, I eat the whole gauge.

Also, I know about Critical Moment, but I don't like using that spell. I've used it before, and its not really my cup of tea.

Either way...

Team Arena on Merciless/Unknown without Items/Revive and alone...

I did my very best and I'm proud :D
It was loads of fun. Might post my failures as well.

There is a skill that increases your Overlimit by one if you are currently in an Overlimit under four.
