http://www.canonspeedlitedvd.com - This is a short video which explains the concepts of TTL and ETTL flash metering systems. Flash photography can be extremely tricky, so I made this video in hopes it would help you learn what TTL and ETTL are and how they are different. Its just one of many lessons from my new DVD: Canon 580 EXII \ 430EXII Speedlite Crash Course. Over 3.5 hours of awesome lessons. It can be ordered from the following link: http://www.michaelthemaven.com

  • does ettl-ettl2 work work in a 45-75degree bounce?

  • it should- much of it depends on the object you are bouncing it off of as well as the distance. Some of the light has to return into the lens for a measurement, if not, it wont work.

  • thanks dude thats some good info.

  • Hello, I have a Canon 5D, Mark II and a Canon 580 EX II Speedlite flash. I have question regarding the sync of the flash and camera. I was shooting a wedding several months ago. All was going fine and then the flash started firing way too strong and created blown out images. It went from displaying ETTL to displaying TTL. What does this mean? Why did it suddenly change? Please help!!!!!!!

  • Excellent explanation, that 'Uncle Tom' will understand easily.

  • thanks for a quick video which explains flash photography using a metaphor that is easy to remember.

  • great video!

  • thank you

    Great video

  • Thanks, great vid! I just posted a video of my unboxing. I played with the ETTL 2 setting, but I prefer to shoot Manual. It's a cool feature for the right situation.

  • This is a great lesson. Thank You!

  • usually i'll prefer to use manual focus. got problems with my auto focus, so im wondering, ettl works with manual focus?
