Hmmm... not sure why that is happening to you. But once finished, do you think maybe they will flatten out? After you set them with glue.... or starch and iron them flat?

Aw. For some reason, while crocheting the snowflake branches, the branches won't stay side-by-side. My yarn keeps jumping around the circle at random, causing for some very clustered snowflake branches. Any advice?
