This is a tribute to Dan Fogelberg by his long-time friend and bandmate Robert McEntee. Thank you Robert for such a beautiful song in memory of Dan, it touched my heart deeply. Robert played guitar for Dan's albums: Greeting from the West (1991), River of Souls (1993), Something Old New Borrowed & Some Blues (2000), Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Reflection (2003). Thanks to Jean Fogelberg and many other great photographers' work, keeping Dan's legacy ever on. Please visit Robert McEntee's web page, you can buy many of his CDs there.

(Over Peoria Lyrics)

you were never big on goodbyes, never big on goodbyes
you didn't let on, and I never got wise
that's all fine and well and good
the world's still spinning as it should

to make a moonrise, Over Peoria
as the raven flies, Over Peoria

you were the baby of the family, everyone's golden child
you were playing in 'the Coachmen', everyone knew you got style
set out west to conquer and paint the world
it took a few tries but you found your perfect girl

and the rain turned to snow, Over Peoria
a decade of blue skies, Over Peoria

you were never big on goodbyes, surprise surprise
just how much, I now realize
when I travel across the great midwest
I always book a window seat

and keep an eye out, Over Peoria
there's blue sky, Over Peoria
got sunshine, Over Peoria

  • I don't even know what to say. What a gift.

  • So Great- Thanks, what a great tribute to Dan by Robert, must have been hard for him.

He and Dan played together for years.

Love the photos of Peoria, How pretty, I can picture Dan growing up there and along the River, where he first starting writing his Gorgeous songs.

Wish he was still with us, Always will.

  • Vezry sweet tribute from one great friend I would say..

  • I was very happy to see this tribute by his fellow band member, who played with him during the last part of his life--definitely since 91! And the pictures are awesome! Where did you get some of those JMEagle101? Thanks for this post! Peace and Love, BobbyK

  • Awesome song AND video - hope I meet you all THIS August in Peoria - Damn - I never thought (being from Indiana I'd be so excited for a trip to Peoria - But I've booked a room - going on the "Dan Fogelberg Cruise" - and waiting for whatever else is in store. Yeah!

I digress - really like this song and video.

  • Robert, your music is beautiful. Feel envy you for having lived and connected with Dan Geetinf Watch the DVD from the western and see you next to Dan. You're lucky to have a friend like him. God bless.

  • It's Perfect Bill...and I'm in tears...

    My tribute is on stumbleupon..

    Hugsssssssss,

    River...XOXO

  • @Sandandthefoam You are so right. What I cannot express in words, no matter how hard I try, music does for me. Dan's has done this for me since we first "met" at a young age.... He will Ever On Shine through his music in my mind, heart and soul.... and say what I cannot in my words through his amazing song-writing ability. Always missed; never forgotten: Dan......

  • Bill, again, I'm here. Just listened to Jean's interview again. Had to come here before signing off of You Tube. This is so beautiful. Those who have followed Dan since his beginning either "get it" or "don't get it". I do..... and tears fall...... and others who are with me, understand..............

  • Just watched them playing together on one of pre10ders uploads, "Power of Gold". Had to come and her Robert's tribute to Dan...... and shed a few tears...

  • Have listened to this many times - a wonderful tribute to Dan by Robert.. Putting words and feelings to music is sometimes a lot easier than talking - music is so much more expressive. Robert has done just this. Something we've all learned from Dan,- the master of expression. Embellished even more by your art, JM. Thank you.
