  • Bob Jenkins is the best announcer!

  • Richard Petty went winless in 1982 so that was as close as he got to winning that season

  • @carguysn Thanks for blowing it for me >:(

have the full race, i belive

  • @carguysn Petty had five second place finishes that year - the second to Dave Marcis at Richmond, a photo finish to Waltrip at Atlanta, second in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono (the race where Earnhardt and Tim Richmond tore open the wall in One), this race, and the Southern 500 to Cale.

  • I remember watching this on T.V. Petty had made up so much ground in such a short time that I thought he would blow by Allison if he got to him in time. Great finish.

  • Petty was only so-so at MIS. Pearson and Cale were much better then Petty from 1969 (when MIS first hosted a Nascar event) to 1983 at MIS. Starting in 1984 MIS became a Ford track lead by Bill Elliott domination from1984-89. It was pretty much a Mercury track from 1969-1978. Pearson would have won 12 of 19 races in 1973 had MIS not cancelled one of it's two events that year. With only 1 race at MIS in 1973, Pearson had to settle for 11 wins in 18 races.

  • If he had won all those battles against Pearson and a few others it could have been near 300 wins.

  • couldve been 201 wins :(

  • Very true. They both would have won more races had they not knocked each other out of contention in a lot of races during the '70's. DW and Allison was also a big rival though. Davey and DW also became rivals.
