Has there even been an album released by a band from the Mod Revival era that comes anywhere near Squire's 'Get Smart' in terms of musical scope & imagination? Great song writing and arrangements, brilliant use of brass & strings - uplifting, reflective and at times brutally honest songs. 60s pop, Motown, Psych, West Coast - its all here. Released in 1983, it still sounds great, and still outshines anything released by any of the later 'C86' indie bands (many of whom who looked to similar influences and themes) and anything thrown up by Britpop
