The Santa Cruz Zambales Association-USA celebrated its 13th Anniversary on September 26, 2009 with a dinner dance and induction of its new officers at the Oaktree Ballroom of the Barona Valley Ranch Resort in San Diego, California. Mr. Francisco Minas led the opening prayer followed by a welcome address delivered by Mr. Willie Abalos, the association's incoming 1st Vice-president. Mr. Rodolfo Arguilla, SCZA-USA President 1998-2001, and the event's emcee, acknowledged the presence of the special guests during the evening. The new officers were sworn to office by Atty. Irwin Bautista, followed later by an acceptance speech of the incoming president, Mr. Isagani Monta. He expressed with pride the humble beginnings of his belongingness as a SantaCruzinian and asked the full support of all its members. The outgoing president, Mr Gerry Misa, delivered an emotional speech about the state of organization of the association, its past accomplishments and the projects he spearheaded, in improving the literacy of our hometown's schoolchildren. A DVD montage prepared by Mr. Francis Mas, showed the association's past projects and accomplishments, highlighting this year's main focus of helping the poor children victims of Typhoon Cosme, by providing them the basic materials they needed for school. Mr. Gerry Misa received a plaque of appreciation in recognition of his leadership during his two previous terms as president.
Sara Misa Zapanta entertained the audience with her beautiful violin rendition of the traditional Russian song "Korobushka". Further highlights of the event were the display of dances of the guests and their eager anticipation and excitement from the raffle drawing of prizes. There was no match however to the exchange of pleasantries among our "kababayans", whose longingness to hear from each other, especially their neighbors, relatives, classmates or friends they haven't seen or heard of in a long time, was satisfied and fulfilled by their mere presence during that wonderful evening.
Congratulations to the officers and members and "Mabuhay ang SCZA-USA!"

This task obviously performed voluntarily by George was grand. Wonderful work by one of our truly adopted son of Santa Cruz, Zambales including the outstanding performance of Sarah with the violin. I believe we have just discovered our own "Celtic" violinist.

Excellent photos. Beautiful, smiling Kababali. The background music was electrifying. Sara was such an amazing violinist. Great party. An evening to remember. Thank you George for producing the video. I hope that everybody really had a great time. Thank you so much for supporting SCZA-USA in its cause in helping improve the quality of life of our less fortunate townfolks in Sta. Cruz, Zambales
