  • @cheywee1 is there anything left there I live about 20 minutes from it so I was gonna go check it out

Alas, there is nothing left of the park. all the rides are gone, the structures have been removed long ago. All there is now is over grown weeds and brush.

  • Great video...most of the other ones that show the park, although great as well, show it after the trees and weeds took over the whole place and it's hard to tell exactly where they're facing in Idora. There's an old family video of us at Idora the last year it was open in '84 after the fire. I have to find it next time I head back to Ytown.

  • Would love to see that Ytown Teddy.

  • is this after it was officially shut down?

  • Yes, this is four years after it closed. Several rides were still standing and most of the buildings.

  • They could've saved this park if they really wanted to, but considering they were losing money to Geauga Lake in Cleveland and Kennywood in Pittsburgh, they figured it wasn't worth spending the money to keep it going. Damn shame! That was a great park to go to and it was right in my backyard.

  • By them leaving the buildings like this they are inviting you in to film and explore!

  • Great vid but sad to watch.

  • 2 great parks chippewa and idora chippewa was small passed over sometimes for its size but it was soooo fun

  • 2:59 a Tear, Best place to be in the Late 70's early 80's as a kid from Youngstown. Still miss it today. Thank You

  • This and all the other videos people have posted are amazing but depressing. I went to a park similar here in Kansas called Joyland. Much like Idora it was landlocked so it could never grow. Joyland was my six flags and diseny since my family didn't have the money for cross country trips. Joyland is now crumbling. People vandalizing it and then coincidently a fire broke out in the concessions ( I think). I look at this video and understand what those from Youngstown feel. Great videos everyone.

  • very nice footage.thank you for sharing

  • It looks so sad with out the rides or people in it.

  • my dad lived near the park...and he saw when the wild cat burned
