Blackpool Tram Cabride Farewell to Starr Gate Starr Gate to Pleasure Beach Sept 2009

This video filmed on 4th September 2009, 2 days before closure of this section of line from Starr Gate to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Filmed from 'Millenium' tram 707, we departed Starr Gate around the loop and head back on the Northbound line. On the left we have the huge car park and also the Karting 2000 track. All this area will be given up to the new depot construction for 16 new Bombardier Flexity 2 trams. Once round the sharp righthand curve and onto Promenade track. At Harrowside we have a trailing crossover, rarely used. Also we have the Solaris building. All along this stretch, we have various hotels. At Blackpool Pleasure Beach, this area has been relayed and junction modified. The loops both in one direction only join the Northbound line. Arriving at Pleasure Beach tram stop, The weather starting to turn for the worst.

@Doctortrek1 I mean Don't get me wrong Blackpool does have its qualities - but many go there year on year and just completely belittle other places. I have been to Bpl and really wanted to go on the Big One - the Pepsi Max but the weather was too awful and it was closed because of high winds. But travel is definitely worth it if you have the means to do it!! But wherever you go be it at home or thousands of miles away smile and speak to locals - you do get responses!

@MovieMad007 unlike other people who get into an argument, I will trust you. But I will still go to Blackpool as well as hotter places. The reason I like going to Blackpool is because I've going there since I can remember. I even want to live there when I'm older. :D Thanx for pulling sense into me! I will sure go to Australia sometime.

Australia is a wonderful place!! Once you are there its cheaper than the UK! There are more jobs, more opportunities and the bigggy clincher PAY is so much better!! Especially in the less popular cities like Perth and Adelaide. But they are getting more expensive like Sydney and Brisbane! People will smile if you speak to them believe me!! People of Dubai are very friendly - far friendlier than the shellsuit council flat dwellers in the UK! Get a life ...live it to the full!!

@Doctortrek1 thats because most people in Britain have no stomach to travel! They' rather sit with their lot in a 1 up 1 down bedsit council flat in bradford or birmingham and have no outlook. ffs I know people who are so sad they have never been out of Cheshire! There are more bugs in Britain than in Dubai and Australia! Thats fact! The reason people from the UK get ill in hotter countries is because they do not drink enough fluid! I'm an expert in that field! Trust me on this!

@MovieMad007 Well atleast here in Britain, we don't have killing creatures, or diseased bugs, we got simple cats and dogs. To be honest, I'd rather go to Blackpool, than Dubai, Dubai is hot, sunny and no rain, but it's REALLY DEPRESSING! No one speaks to you, maybe they speak another language, but they could at least smile. The journey was also depressing, when I got there I was sick and depressed, but at least it's not as long as the journey to Australia

errrm prefer the hot tropical beaches and meter maids at Surfers Paradise Australia!! Went to Blackpool - most miserable place I have ever been to! You know if people in Britain gave up smoking - they could afford nicer and warmer holidays abroad than what is on offer like in this video!! The cuts being made in the Uk will shut the country down you know! Tourist industry in Northern Australia is booming - b&b's and hotels are raking it in!

I will miss riding on the trams round the loop at Star Gate hearing the wheels screeching as they bite into the tight curve served me well all my life (59years) By the way the gentleman was asking if the shops were still there on the corner at Star Gate Pleased to say they are but alas the lemon Tree Hotel went a long time ago best wishes from a Blackpuddlian

This vid brought back memories. me n me brother had auntie living very close to Star Gate, wonder if the shops are still there on the corner. I agree with the timing on closing down at illuminations time seems abit stupid.
