  • Arlo became a Republican after Obama was elected and Dems won Congressional majority ...I do NOT get the man's logic.

  • I became a registered Republican years before the Obama election, and maybe you didn't get the logic. You also make an assumption that when someone changes political parties that they somehow have to swallow the party lines on everything.

  • Without going onto great detail here, I haven't changed my sense of what's wrong and right. I changed my location to preach to a different choir. If you wish to actually know what my policies are, there's plenty on read on my website

  • Why did he sell out on this and not sing the real lyrics?? Please see the real version of this - it is a wonderful protest song.

  • These are the published lyrics. Woody taught Arlo the unpublished lyrics that you call the "real lyrics".

  • There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me; Sign was painted, it said private property; But on the back side it didn't say nothing; That side was made for you and me.

  • Perfect BRILLIANT LONG LIVE GUTHRIE

  • @jguth3

    nicely put.

  • @vmoehlman1 post script: Did I say Guthrie doesn't have the right to switch parties?

  • @vmoehlman1 yeeeeeeaahhh, that was some real LOL!!!!! material I wrote. Actually there's a good educational video on the gold standard here on YouTube. Type in "Bring the Gold"

  • @S2Cents Have you read the book? You might want to give it a look before you say "End the Fed is Crack pottery." LOL!

I was merely giving a for instance or possible as to why Arlo changed his party, which is his right to do so! I am neither Rep or Dem, both the same to me!

  • Maybe he DID say he supported Ron Paul.. I don't recall but I do recall him saying the Republican Party needed supporting after the Democrats won the White House and had a majority in Congress

  • @vmoehlman1 End the Fed is Crack pottery. However, I like Paul's honesty, truly principled statesmanship and near singular Washington outsider status. And of course Paul's anti-imperialism alone makes him worth supporting. Do I got to be a Republican and go around saying I'm a Republican now because the Democrats won a majority and the country needs "two" parties --cause that's what Mr. Guthrie said!

How about, "I support Ron Paul" for a clear, sensible public statement instead?

  • @S2Cents It may have something to do with this book, "End The Fed" by Ron Paul. The backcover reads "Rarely has a single book not only challenged, but decisively changed my mind." - Arlo Guthrie

  • I'm sure someone has made a similar comment in this long thread... but I am aware of how he has omitted the last 2 verses about the tresspassing sign and people standing in the soup line. This is just the standard white washed version. If this is our land, it's time we took it back.

  • Truly awesome, Thank you!
