The Bluebell Railway held it's annual Branch Line Weekend over the weekend of February 20th/21st.

The event featured six locos in action including two visitors. From the home fleet, recently restored LB&SCR E4 class No. B473 (Birch Grove), SE&CR C class No. 592, BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80151 and LB&SCR A1 'Terrier' class No. 672 'Fenchurch' were all in steam alongside two visitors - BR/LMS Fairburn 4P No. 42085 (from the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway) and BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0 No. 78019 (from the Great Central Railway).

As well as an intensive service, brakevan rides down the restored section of the Ardingly Branch took place, these being worked by 672.

This video was filmed on the Sunday, two videos, parts 1 and 2 from the Saturday, can be found at:

  • ok, Thanks Craig :-)

  • No problem :-) I'll send you a PM with some locations.

  • Oh right Nice, Thanks Craig...do you know any good line side spots at the Bluebell! that are not to much of a walk

  • Thanks Michael. I recommend going in August when they hold their 50th Anniversary Gala. It is to feature 60163 Tornado (newest working standard gauge steam loco), Furness Railway No. 20 (oldest working standard gauge steam loco), all of the operational engines in the Bluebell's fleet and also a handful of locos that are currently under overhaul! I believe there could be 14 locos in use, but that depends on whether the overhauls of some of the engines are completed in time.

  • Thanks as always Bob!

  • Well done Craig for braving the elements to shoot such excellent material...5* Bob

  • Brilliant Video Mate 5*, i really need to visit the Bluebell sometime :/
