I got just about everything they released. I wrote quite a long letter formatted like an interview which I sent to Dave Furgeson at the time who answered all the questions in much detail . I have the original question and reply sheets which tell a great deal of information. The name random Hold was chosen because the idea was members of the band could come and go staying for a while like the "Hold" on a fruit machine. The March -yes I have the record and its a great track.
Hi,have you got the single,THE MARCH,by Random Hold which you can download?i can't get it anywhere,i've tried all the usual music sites.I hope you can help.Cheers.
Thanks for posting this. Brings back good memories! Seen Davis Rhodes &co. open for PG in 1980 in Central Park NYC. Then a couple years later w' Electric Guitars in Passaic NJ. I played the grooves out of this record and other Ep's.
I just uploaded a video to the song 'Etceteraville' (original studio version) if you're interested. I'll no doubt be posting more by this great band in the not too distant future...maybe 'Ballad', 'Central Reservations', or 'Montgomery Clift'... I have been a huge fan for many years...seen then live opening for Peter Gabriel as well back in 1980/Toronto. Please go to my page...'Etceteraville' is one of the most recent songs I've uploaded. Cheers!
I first saw them as support to Peter Gabriel for his Knebworth warm up gig at Aylesbury Friars and they were awesome. Friars was a small venue and the sound was always great and they were so tight and well rehearsed. PG praised them highly then - he toured the UK with them later & they were even better then & probably did a longer set. Personal fave is Montgomery Clift from the 12" EP - their LP never did them justice due to poor production - if only there was a live album ;-)
I saw Random Hold on tour with Peter Gabriel in 1980, in Ottawa, Canada.
They actually... "stole the show," or at the very least were Gabriel's equal that night. The audience was buzzing about these young upstarts. Gabriel even commented about how good they were.
