FF7 - Ruby Weapon (no Materia, no Item, no 7777 or Game Over tips, Solo Character)

This is assuredly my biggest achievement : beat Ruby Weapon without Materia or Item ! Of course, Game Over doesn't count. Am I the first one to do it regularly (without save states thanks to an emulator) ? To do the stuff more impressive, I didn't need 7777's tip, and I even made it Solo Character ! And last but not least : the battle isn't luck reliant at all ! It was almost a one-try... :-p

Config is pretty easy : I think Cait Sith is the only one who can beat Ruby Weapon like this. Nevermind his weapon (I suggest HP Shout nontheless ^^), but you HAVE to choice Ziedrich for the armor, and Ribbon for the accessory. Ribbon is obvious, but maybe not Ziedrich. With it, tentacle's attacks will be always divised by 2. So, instead of doing 15/16 or 15/32 HPs (or MPs) damages, it'll be only 15/32 or 15/64. Your spirit also has to be at 255, to make Shadow Flare at about 6000 HPs damage and Ultima at 5000 HPs. It's pretty fast thanks to the duplication glitch, even if Mind Source is more annoying, cos you can't find any ennemy on CD3 to use Trans. glitch, so you have to use steal's glitch (sorry if I don't explain that correctly, it's pretty difficult in English :-p ). Attack, Dexterity and Luck weren't obligatory, it's just to make the battle faster... ^^

Now the battle : I started with Lucky Girl, once again to do the battle faster. But first part of the battle is here to use all Ruby Weapon's MPs. So, no attack at all ! If you do, you can receive a right tentacle's countersteer, and it'll remove always 15/32 of your HPs, that's mean 4175 HPs. And if she adds Ultima or Shadow Flare, it's over... Well, ok, I attacked twice around 0:30 and 1:49 here, but it was for the fun. ^^ I use Fury, so that Cait's Sith limit can be totally filled after only 2663 HPs removed (instead of over 10000 HPs with Sadness, so forgive that). Even if I loose 2662 HPs (possible with 2 Ruby Flames), I still have 6244 HPs left, and Shadow Flare will never remove more than 6100 HPs, so that's OK (2663 HPs isn't maybe the correct number, cos on this battle I lost once 2680 HPs and I still hadn't the limit ; but at least it's very close) ! And of course, I use Mog Dance for each Limit Break. ^^

Ruby Weapon hasn't MP anymore after 9 Ultima and 13 Shadow Flares (at 4:45). On real speed, it took already more than 20 minutes ! :-D After that, you can kill it. And it's long, extremely long. On this vid, you have the 30 first minutes and the 15 last minutes. I'll add the entire battle on Youtube soon, probably next week. It took 2 hours and 18 minutes, and around 180 Mog Dances were launched ! :-D In these 90 minutes, I did 3 mistakes, and 2 of them could kill me. You'll see them when I'll add the entire battle, with explanations. ;-)

About this second part (remove Ruby Weapon's HPs), the worst you can receive is 2 Ruby Flames on a row (so you loose 26xx HPs and your limit break isn't activated), then a Ruby Ray (around 2300 HPs). So if you have more than 5000 HPs, you're safe and you can attack or launch Toy Soldier. Otherwise, Mog Dance, or no attack at all until you have your limit activated.

If you do like this, you can't loose this battle. The most important is to reach all Mog Dances, but as this limit is pretty easy to reach, it's not a big problem.

And finally, after 2 hours and 18 minutes, Ruby Weapon is killed... ^^ If anyone want to try with an extra rule like Initial Weapon... I think it'll be about 3 times longer. :-X

Normal Playstation. As I play on an European version, that makes the game 1,2 time slower. For this kind of challenge, I think it's a disadvantage... ^^

Great work! I must applaud you for figuring out this strategy and having the patience to go through the battle. I knew this could be done after I made the Slots video, but then I also knew how long it would take and I never had any intentions of doing it myself.

Also, where the hell did you find the first music? It's a techno version of the theme of a Norwegian soap opera that I never imagined anyone in France would have heard, so I was very surprised when I heard it.
