Manfrotto 501HDV | 055XPROB Fluid Video Head/Legs Review

Hello,
Right now I am going to be giving you a review on the Manfrotto 501HDV Fluid Video Head and the 055XPROB Legs. These two together are about $450 for the pair and to me it's a very worthy pair. So far I am really liking it! It's can hold anything I throw at it and it's very durable. It's been knocked over by wind countless of times.

If you are looking for a combo that will give you the kind of results of a similar $1000 tripod/legs combo then I suggest you look into this head or legs. Both are great and both offer many features.

Hi there,

Thanks for the great review. I've got the same set-up but was wondering what tripod bag you use? I'd prefer not to have to unscrew the tripod head every time I pack it away. Do you know of any cheap tripod bags that will fit both?

You're welcome! Glad you liked it. I don't use a tripod-bag, I mean these things are study enough were I don't feel like I need one because it would be really hard to break. I've dropped this thing a few times (from wind) and it's held up perfectly.

Thanks a lot for your clear review. I bough this combo here in Spain and I want to use it with a Canon fx100, wich is a rather "light" camera , hope the stabilization works too. Again your video covers everything I needed. Best Regards.

Hello, Thank you for your review. I have the same fluid head. My question is, I screw it to my Tripod (slik AMT). Pan to the left is fine. BUT, pan to the left, it unscrews itself from the tripod. I looked all around if I was missing anything, if there is an extra screw somewhere... ANY idea? Thank you.

I just found out the 501 isn't fluid. It uses teflon plates.

Is that good or bad?
