Hate Crime

On May 16, 2007 in front of a bar in Greenville, South Carolina, 20 year old Sean Kennedy was beaten to death simply for being gay.

Parents are not supposed to bury their children. As a masculine 37 yrs old who came to terms with my sexuality 19 years ago i am aggressively protective towards younger gay people when it comes to this type of hate. I want them not to have to face the things guys my age had to when we were younger. Sean Kennedy. 21 years old and full of life. Heartbreaking. I never knew him - but had i have been there that dreadful day i would have fought to the death to have protected him.

Thank you. I feel the same way. I am a big guy and that fact protected me from a lot of physical threats, but too many people I know have faced violence. These cowardly haters that prey upon people like Sean or Matthew Shepard should have to face you or me and see how manly they feel.

Personally knowing Stephen, I don't think he purposely killed the man because he was gay. Anytime a homo or any minority gets wronged in any way, people always assume the worst. First of all, a punch to the face should not kill a man. And second of all, you need to check your facts, Stephen was not a skinhead. That's the farthest thing from the truth.

I said "he was described as a skinhead" which is an accurate reflection of media reports. I deliberately included "he was described" since I had no direct knowledge.

He may not have intended to kill, but he almost certainly intended to hit, which led to the death, and thus he is responsible. The punch was not an act from love or compassion.

Agree. So many haters go for the likes of Sean or Matthew because their gentle nature would not allow them to fight back. Effeminate guys are at greater risk. I have knocked gay bashing pricks unconscious before to protect guys like that. In my eyes attacking gays who cant hit back is as low as hitting girls. I admit I'm aggressive by nature but protective towards vulnerable types. When i see that sort of bullying i snap into a uncontrolled rage and just attack without a second thought.

You have picked a study that says "approximately one-third of [child sex offenders] had victimized boys." that dousnt mean homosexuals are more likly to commit these crimes. Most pedophiles consider them selves to be heterosexual.
