One of the wonderful things about Calvin and Hobbes is it's perfect marriage of dialogue and art. Here's a little bit of what this video is missing :-) :

Calvin: He's enjoying a snow cone! There's nothing he likes better!

Hobbes: And the snowman with the ice cream scoop in his back?

Calvin: It's a sordid story.

Hobbes: Why does he have a hot water bottle on his head?

Calvin: He's committing suicide.

Hobbes: Your snowmen lead tragic lives.

Calvin: Well, they're not very bright.

I was unfortunately late for calvin hobbes and discovered it recently as a teen but i love it now <3

In the 'Complete Collection of Calvin and Hobbes', he says that he doesn't want to allow Calvin and hobbes to ever become a tv show or a movie because he doesn't want them to decide definitively whether Hobbes is real or not, and he doesn't want them to have voices, so children can put made up ones in for them. You've got to respect someone who puts principle over money.
