Now, will those Tilapia be able to survive through an Indiana winter? I thought they were more of a tropical fish.

The die when water temps drop below 45 degrees. But before they die they become lethargic and rise to the surface, we went around scooping them out with a net (awesome tasting fillets). The way I looked at it was spend the money in Tilapia or chemicals...The Tilapia is a much better choice . They eat the moss/alge mats like the vegetarians they are and breed like crazy feeding my bluegill and bass!! No downside to them, they breath new life into an old pond for certain!
