  • Vasari worked for the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo I di Medici.

    Vasari's works was a kind of old advertisement of Medici's government, The Medici family had not noble origins, they were bankers, so They needed to create legitimacy for their government, for that they titled themselves descendants of the Romans and patrons of the roman art that died in the middle age and reborn with the Medici, so Vasari used the italian word for Rebirth, "Rinascimento".
