Social Distortion Odd Rock Riot

October 4, 1988 Social Distortion was to play at the Odd Rock Cafe in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The one of the opening bands played (Silent Scream) then the cops showed up. People wanted a refunds the cops said no, expletives flew and the cops went nuts. This is the news footage of the event.

For the people that think this doesn't happen today, well, Milwaukee has a long long history of this shit. Our police-especially 2nd and 6th districts- are just as racist and fascist as ever. One of the more recent series of events resulted in a club not 2 blocks from the Odd Rock closing (the Sanctuary) and it was the same stuff. I have seen police go out to their cars and search their rule books just to create problems. So yes, this shit still goes on.

@corgi4u Well I'd say it was defiantly worse when Chef Briar and Mayor Maier were around. The Sanctuary thing was at least 10 years ago though wasn't it?

@anonymoush8machine66 300+ kids in an 80 person capacity club. 32 cop cars 4 paddy wagons. Sure not the biggest thing ever but it was pretty scary. I was amazing how the cops disappeared when the news stations showed up.

Odd Rock Cafe!!! Been there MANY times, back in the day. Should've went to see them at Cubby Bear the day before this happened. They played with Bhopal Stiffs (pre-Pegboy), Bulimia Banquet, and Sham 69!!! Plus, no one got hassled by the dicks!!!

@ortleyman i was trying to make a point. it just flew a few feet over your head. kids still have angst, kids are still broke, kids still have balls, kids still fight cops. i know, i grew up with them, im still growing up with them now in my twenties. to generalise and state that all kids these days live off their parents money and don't "rebel" is makes you sound like a bitter old man, glorifying his past like an old high school football player. its not so different. fuck it, arguing on youtube.
