Why do some cooks still say that cooking it burns off the alcohol?! It does not.

@rajarova any local Liquor Store?

A better option may be to make the banana kahlua sauce ahead of time but don't put it over the pound cake until you are ready to serve. It will be too mushy otherwise. A key thing to this dessert is the combination of hot and cold. Be sure you warm up the cake and sauce before topping with ice cream. You may want to try it out on a small batch to make sure the bananas don't oxidize

Hi,
I stay in texas and I have no clue where can I buy kahlua. I went to heb, but really cudnt find it. Also do they sell the pound cake in the bakery section?

In Texas, there are some "dry" cities that don't allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in grocery stores. Since Kahlua is a coffee liqueur, you will find it in a liquor store.
You may find freshly baked pound cake in the bakery section. If not, you can find it in the frozen dessert section.

True, it does melt fast, but you gotta try it this way. The warm with the cold is an awesome experience (similar to cold ice cream on hot apple pie). But putting the ice cream first (under the cake) sounds like a good idea. Thanks!
