This recording is (apparently) from August 24th, 1973, Chateauvallon. The main point of interest here is the band's drummer on this gig - Greg Errico of Sly & The Family Stone fame. According to Zawinul (as quoted in Brian Glasser's book), Errico "was the finest 3/4 drummer the band ever had". Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Miroslav Vitous and Don Um Romao complete the lineup.

  • Kalamazoo was INCREDIBLE!!! It was a high school auditorium...

  • Kalamazoo, Michigan concert a few weeks earlier in August of 1973 was superb! Heard them in concert in Minneapolis and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa later in the 70s. They were always awesome, but the Sweetnighter album period was my favorite!
