The only thing missing in the movie was Ozymandias' final monologue.

I hadn't read the novel. I'm not into comics or super heroes, but I have to say I did like the movie to my surprise.

its the guy who was reading Talls of the Black Freighter at the news stand!!!

It appears that the film was too complex for the average viewer, whilst lacking in substance for the comic book fans.
Why didn't they do a good job and spread it over 2/3 films?

When I watched Watchmen in theaters it was the first film I'd been to where a good deal of people walked out, but it's cause you know it is a film that flies over people's heads and if you're going into it expecting another 300ish or actiony comic book film...yeah you're going to disappointed. Either way the way Zach Snyder handled Watchmen is a good deal of the reasons I love him directing the new Superman, and with Nolan producing we can't lose...right? right!!?

@edgeduderocks I'm going to ignore your atrocious grammar, and just go out and say that Watchmen is unanimously considered the greatest comic book of all time. Stop trolling with the "The plotline didn't make any sense, the characters weren't real heroes, there were too many flashbacks!" bullshit. No, it works perfectly. Also, the actors were amazing, namely Jackie Earl Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Stephen McHattie.
Nobody cares about your opinion; you liked Transformers ('nuff said).
