8hp evinrude 1990 14' monark 1968

In Bayou Lafourche a 1990 8hp evinrude on a 1968 14' monark aluminim jon boat GPS 17mph. Running good. A great little set up for some fishing fun. Does anyone else have a 8hp evinrude or johnson. (It has been a little over a year now since this video and with a new lower unit and prop on the boat I GPS it at 21mph)

Hey brother. Nice motor, I have the same exact one. Mine is an 89. Yours runs well. I can't plane my 12ft sea scamp, but then again I usually have 3 people. I probably cruise about 12 mph. It gets the job done. Very impressed with your speed though.

@mialaw35 Thank you, well since the video I have put a new lower unit and prop on it and it made a big difference. GPS at 21mph. Do you have a video of yours running?

@skatabeast13 Yes I live down in Thibodaux. I just put a new prop on it and tried it out this pass weekend. It made a big difference in speed. I haven't tried it with my GPS yet for a speed. Where do you go fishing at?

No I don't, but I will post one in the next few weeks. I have the motor on a 12ft starcraft aluminum jon boat, with a v hull. I just bought it a few months ago. It starts first pull every time, and runs great up until about 80% of the max RPMs, but it struggles to hit the peak rpms. I am going to run a can of seafoam through it, and see if that helps. Any idea on what would be the biggest bang for my buck to increase performance? I thought about cleaning the carb.

@Billydurocherjr i go fishing in alot of areas, for saltwater i go all over in the vermilion bay are and out to tiger shoal and te butte reef in the gulf,and for freshwater, just in little canals all around my house
