  • Just got my first results back from the Holga, and some of the shots are neat...but compared to the TL-120 and even the modified Sputnik, the Holga is really low-tech. I need to get more familiar with it's idiosyncrasies; I don't think I'll be taking it to Havana as planned.

  • @TupakSade I really do want the Sputnik (now I've come to learn of it's existence) but I do worry about getting a dud one off eBay that I wont know how to fix it myself without investing ridiculous amounts of my personal time and costs. I dream of finding an unwanted 3D World on ebay for cheap... from some guy going digital.

May I ask you what medium format 3D viewer you are using?

  • When I wanted to progress to medium format stereo from 35mm stereo, I bought an old modified Sputnik. From there I splurged and bought a TL-120, by 3D World (China) - INCREDIBLE PHOTOS! We have an upcoming trip to Havana, and I think the Lomo-look might be just the thing for that journey, so today I'm buying a Holga 120-3D to take there with me. Much easier than lugging the TL-120 there and much easier than fussing with the Sputnik. What film have you used for indoor flash photography?

  • @TupakSade Just the Fuji iso400. Wow I'd love to try the 3D World. I got ripped off by a bad eBayer when I tried to buy an old Sputnik, so my only experience with medium format 3D is this Holga and I love it. Let me know how you get on with the Holga 3D cos I'd love to know how these cameras compare to one another. Thanks for your comment.

  • You mention getting some lenticular prints done from the photos that you have taken. Where did you get that done and how much did it cost?

  • @cericj FotoMax it's about 6USD for a 5R sized lenticular print.

  • Hi, 2Old4Toys! I shoot 95% of all my pictures with my TL-120, so if you're really interested I'd be willing to sell you my excellent Sputnik. I think you'd be well-impressed with its output when compared to the Holga. My Sputnik has been fully modded and tweaked and even has a level mounted on it! $350 plus shipping. Let me know your thoughts.

  • where can you get it develop? I can't find a place that offers 6 by 6 cm

  • I really want one right now!

  • @2Old4Toys As far as mounting / viewing equipment, for my medium format stuff (TL-120, Sputnik, even the Holga) I'm using all 3D World gear. 3D World mounting jig, 3D World mounts, 3D World LIGHTED (batteries) viewer.

  • @2Old4Toys My advice to you is to join the MF3D list-serve. There's a great community of stereographers on there, and I bet at least one of them would have a modified Sputnik to sell you that you wouldn't have to mess with. If you're going to buy stereo stuff off of eBay, you should buy from George "Dr. T." Themelis. He's a great guy and won't steer you wrong. The cheapest I've ever seen a 3D World TL-120 on eBay was $700, and I almost bought it to experiment with (swapping out lenses).
