he is wrong that bounce rate is a "one size fits all" metric.

bounce is calculated as such: "Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page." Source: Google Help.

thus, you could land on a 1 page rich media site, read for 30min, exit, which would produce a 100% bounce rate. yet the ave time on page is 30 min!

bounce is contextually sensitive like any other metric.

i let my site get stale and didnt touch it for over 1 year. my bounce rate was 60%. i started working on my site and added a lot of info. my bounce rate fell to 3% and sometimes 1% or 0%!!!! WTF HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!
