This year 3.2 million students are expected to graduate from high school and of those, roughly 70 percent will go on to get a college education. But with two-thirds of college graduates carrying debt—and the average student loan debt topping $20,000 dollars—is a college degree worth it? What does it get you in today's global economy?

  • $220,000 in debt? He is screwed unless he graduated with an M.D.!

  • The last comment was perfect!

I wish they'd have told us their majors.

Don't get into debt for college!

You WILL NOT earn a million more dollars over your lifetime simply because you have a college degree. That is a lie!

  • Poor sheep. You can't blame them for being exploited by their country, but you also can't praise them for not having the courage to be original. You kind of just pity them.

  • Not thinking of six figure debt? I would hang myself.

  • LMAO at the black girl with the missing tooth, I LMAOd soon as I saw her face, even more when I heard her talk

  • Doncha just love how dismissive the "educated" 20somethings are about $XXX,XXX of debt? with nothing to show for it except no job? I do. shoulda taken Reality 101 instead of Chicano and Woman Studies at $800/pop.

Great gems: "ya know, like, i'm a spoiled brat" | "yeah, like, i'm going into the muzik biz" | "yeah, like, um, i goxt $70K to repay, but i'm going home for some quality time with the folks." uh huh, you mean you're gonna live with mom and dad well into your thirties. suckers.

  • @Rachel10751 It could also be an accumulated debt from undergrad and grad school. Lots of people with Masters degrees can't find work.

  • how you get 220k in debt in 4 years?!? How expensive is tuition are they all Harvard grads or something???

  • I graduated in 2009 with roughly $110k-120k USD in student debt at 3-7% interest. Due to my saving/spending habits I have saved enough that net-net I owe just $60k .. At this rate the debt will be gone in 3 more years. The system works it's just a little scary if you're not in the right major . I did computer science UCSD

  • $220k in debt!?!? 0_0 I could reinvest that in a decent mutual fund and be wealthy almost overnight!

  • @waverly2468

Of course they got scammed, they were expect to get to well paying job when they got out of college only to found out the hard way that there is no job availabe to them once they got their college degree.

  • You have to try to get that much debt. You can save obscene amounts of money doing in state-public tuition, applying for fin. aid, and not spending money for social things.
