Zahira College Colombo - Vision 2012

Zahira College, Colombo is the very first Muslim school in Sri Lanka and was founded in 1892 as Al Madrasathul Zahira by two of the most prominent Sri Lankan Muslims of the day, I. L. M. Abdul Aziz and Arasi Marikar Wapchie Marikar, with the active patronage of Ahmed Orabi Pasha of Egypt. It is currently the largest Muslim educational institution in Sri Lanka with more than 4000 students studying there. The college is situated at the heart of Colombo city. The college also has one of the oldest mosques in the country in its premises. Zahira means Excellence in Arabic.

Hello brother, itz a nice video. But if you listen to again then you could identify that the recording says that our college was established in 1982.. It should be 1892.. Please do try to change it if you can..

I am also an old boy to Zahira College, Colombo Once & the time that Mr. Raseen Sir Tamil Medium Head, happiest time of my life. Am very happy that Zahira reforms again please don’t dream because I waited too long for it just do it the dream come true in 2012 at least!! Insha Allah, like the time late A.M.A. Aziz as principle we are best, make it again I’m blood relative to him. My dream always, we are the best!!

I went to St Thomas' Preparatory and i think that really was a good school as no doubt the senior school was and is in Mount Lavinia.

After watchiing this video clip i tfeel and think that I would have raised no objection at all to being educated throughout at Zahira College.
