In this video we see 2 caddis fly larvae from a fast flowing Dartmoor stream with a stony substrate. I think they are potamophylax latipennis ( ? ).

After gently picking the (apparently lifeless) cases out from under stones I placed them in the examination tub. After around five minutes the larvae emerged from their cases and scrambled urgently around the tub.

I think their cases are made of small peices of gravel but it may be vegetation - please enlighten me if you know !

These caddis fly larvae were returned to the stream from whence they came shortly after appearing in this film.
