Originally released in September 1967. If you listen carefully, at the very end of the record, three "cue tones" can be heard before the needle slides into the "inner groove" {they're on all "45" copies}.

My family owned on of these when I was a kid. We had the same issue with the pitch, too. RCA must have just made them that way.
