Classic Game Room HD - DEMONS TO DIAMONDS for Atari 2600

It's a shooting game, sort of. You shoot demons as they move across the screen. Then they turn into diamonds which you can collect and sell at a rediculous markup. These are raw, uncut stones too. What nice demons to leave diamonds for you. This is a classic, vintage, retro, arcade, coin-op, 80's, collectable cartridge the whole family can enjoy.

The good news is you can now buy an Atari and a ton of Atari games for the cost of one Xbox 360 game. CGR prefers the original system to emulators for a variety of reasons, the paddle controls being one of them.

Yars' Revenge got a modern something as Yar's Revenge. It's too different for old school fans to enjoy. Yars' Revenge had quite a lot that made it stood out, where as the modern Yar's Revenge is a generic rail shooter. Sad to say, since it is easy to modernize Yars' Revenge without changing any of the elements of the classic. Side note, I keep switching the appostrophy because the new one does that.

Modern: Yar's

To put it simply, it's a controller with a large dial and button on the side. The dial functions like the steering wheel on a racing game, which funny considering how often racing games used the joystick. Interesting thing with the old paddle controllers, two controllers always used the same plug. As a result, there were some four player games that used the paddles. Too bad this wasn't one of them.

@pvtchapman1beer It sounds like you're trying to play this game with the joystick controller; that simply won't work-- i believe it'll just make you fire when you push left. Find yourself a set of paddle controllers-- shouldn't be too difficult to find.

This game, and Yars' Revenge, both need a reboot! If I could redo Demons to Diamonds, the player would be collecting diamonds instead of shooting them. They'd float aimlessly around the field, but holding down the fire button would act as a vacuum to suck 'em in, similar to Samus' arm cannon. That'd make for a great tug-o-war in 2 player competition.
