  • but this is not the case web cast show individualistic notions ideas and general out looks which is not hegemony. Hegemony is a dominant notation of ideas which is accepted by society as a collective. When I used the term Hegemony I meant in context cultural Hegemony as the video is about the media.

  • I Agree with the message of this piece and why you did but the problem is if the main stream media is the dominant force for establishing hegemony of the ruling class and the ideas of big business and if web cast are the counter to it for "counter revolution" if you will then web cast would deliver the ideas of unrepresented groups of society proletariat Lumpenproletariat and poor peasants as a collective force as the main stream media shows the hegemony of the upper class as a collective.

  • Also, decades before the web or TV, there was a media democracy battle over public (vs corporate) control of the radio airwaves,

important history to know, see Robert McChesney's summary at

    alternativeradio DOT org/programs/MCCR001.shtml

  • Check out Harel B's activist article "The Revolution Will Be Webcast" at economicdemocracy DOT org/webcast.html

(before the web, there was usenet, HB co-founded usenet's

    first moderated progressive newsgroup, misc.activism.progressive,

in 1991, and taught online course for Z magazine on Electronic Activism in 94 and 95)

  • Great flow, pace, and composition. Excellent seeing Mike. The television and film industries you say are creating a hegemonic environment are more likely to support weblogs and web initiatives than they are to resist it. You need to look closer at the history of television and it's relationship with other new media through the century. Great work, however.
