This song whose title means "Candy-Peddling Song" was originally performed by Shirley Yamaguchi 山口淑子 a.k.a. Li Xiang Lan 李香蘭, and was taken from a 1942 movie 《万世流芳》, loosely translated as "Leaving A Good Name For Posterity". The song's theme was getting the opium addicts to quit their habit, i.e. buying a candy to control their cravings.

  • A nice life version. Besides Li Xiang Lan's original version, there's another one by Hong Kong's Winnie Wei (Wei Siew Sein) which was sung in the 60's under EMI label. Very nice version. Winnie Wei was the voice for movies mostly for Phoenix and Great Wall (in 60's). You tube has some of her recordings and videos - don't miss it. She was last in Singapore in 1995 as the main guest in "Jui Chin Mein Mein".

  • Thank you for your comments. Indeed, we are also aware of Winnie's rendition and has viewed her performances :)
