At the groundbreaking of the new San Marcos Central Fire Station, Congressman Doggett helped to celebrate a new Central Fire Station that represents not only a wonderful 125th birthday for the Department, but improvements to enable San Marcos firefighters to keep families safe. "What a great opportunity to celebrate courage: those who—at risk to their personal safety—answer their neighbors' call for help. We always know we can count on you—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are fortunate here in San Marcos to have highly-trained, professional firefighter and EMS personnel that assure our safety," he said. While at the fire station, he also announced federal support he personally secured for the new Regional Mobile Command Center, which, under the direction of the San Marcos Police Department, will provide first responders from Hays, Bastrop, and Caldwell Counties, with a coordinated, mobile communications center, when a critical response is required at the scene of an incident.
