Constant high pitched noise from under hood, probably in the right side. I can hear the noise as long as I turn on the engine, no matter what gear the car is in or what speed the car is. Someone said it's from the power steering rack and pinion, while someone said it's vacuum leak. How to find out where the leak is if it's vacuum leak? Or how to tune up the rack and pinion if it is the problem?
This high pitched noise is like electric noise you can hear in some building like department store.
Have flushed power steering fluid, and replaced belt tensioner. The power steering pump is OK. It's definitely not from brake or belt.
Note: you may also hear some squealing noise from alternator bearing. But that's not constant.
My focus st does this, very high pitch noise, seems to be power steering pump as it changes in pitch when I move the wheel when still. Did anyone fix this? Advice?...

My 2002 Buick does the same "squeal from hell" right now that is constant. It started to happen after I replaced intake manifold gasket. Not sure what it is quite yet. Did you ever figure it out?
