@aaronsform Don't mind him, he's just expressing an idea through inappropriate word use. It appears croas69mrc wanted to imply that David's scream was seriously childish and nonmasculine for a boy his age. Let's all try to not use such words that are offensive to a group of people, as long as we don't have genuine contempt for them.
This movie was great till the ending ruined it, where it winds up being just a dream, this is the first movie I've been to where people actually wanted their money back.
why is this trailer showed david's father coming out of the bend during the night? when i saw this part on youtube, the father said he'll check it when its dawn? how did that happened?
I went to see this film in the cinema when it was released and as an 8 year old boy it scared the crap out of me! I watched the original years later and both films have their merits. The original was creepy and sinister but this update fleshed out the story much better and the sets were great! It may not win an oscar but i have a soft spot for it!
This film suffered from an identity crisis: it wasn't sure if it wanted to be sci-fi horror or really black comedy... some of the lines betray the tone of the film ("Marines don't carry loose change into combat, sir!").
The first half was really subversively creepy... but Tobe Hooper showed us the aliens too early. That first time when David follows Mrs. McKeltch into the alien ship, he should have been locked out. Then he knows something's there but not what it is.
classic!

Yeah, but it's still a really cool movie. The visual effects and the creepy background music alone are enough to pull the film through.
