@Pano526 same to me … which was really sad since she explained well.

how do u kno at what level to put the SVP?

hey is there any chance you could try doing perspective shadows with people? bcs i found it very tricky to do. it would be great if you did. thanks =)

It's just pure logic! If the light comes from behind, the front parts will be shadowy, because the shadow will be on the surface it's lightning. The parts that can't be lighted are dark. Thanks!

awesome tutorial bunnygrunts. can you give me some tips on how you would accurately draw human shadows too? thanks :D

What if the box was slightly elevated off the ground?

Sorry for the late response. I put together a video to demonstrate an answer to this question more thoroughly. It's hard to describe with limited words in a response here. Check out my video list to find it. Let me now if it's helpful!

Yes, it works in one-point perspective as well. It can be difficult in three-point perspective, and requires more adjusting of the light source and shadow vanishing point to get the shadows to work properly. If you're running into problems in one-point perspective, try shifting the shadow vanishing point and light source to varying locations. :)

how did u find the SVP point @ 2:40?

You can place it anywhere as long as it's directly below the light source. In my second drawing, I wanted the light source beside the object, casting shadows sideways, so I placed it beside the object. If I placed the shadow vanishing point toward the bottom of the page, that would effectively move the light in FRONT of the object (toward the viewer), casting shadows backward. :)
