Black eyed peas didnt steal this from the trashmen, the melodic line comes from old arabic/mediterranean-region folk songs with lament themes. The Greek rebet Roubanis used the line in the eponymous bouzouki instrumental, which he named Misirlou, after "a girl from Egypt", literally from Misr (Egypt in Arabic). Dick Dale, of some Lebanese ancestry himself, knew the melody from childhood and made it justly famous as a surf instrumental. It's a great tune and it belongs to no one and everyone .

@soad82819 The Black Eyed Peas used Dick Dale's version, not The Trashmen's. Voted down for innaccuracy and reminding me of that failure group.
