Here's Part 2 of a newscast that aired on local CBS affiliate KMST on April 9th, 1985. Thanks to my Aunt & Uncle for recording this.

News Stories include:

1. "Rock-a-bye Baby" still the king of baby music
2. Weather
3. Dorothy Stratten's family sues Hugh Hefner
4. Senator to join crew of Shuttle mission
5. Kindergarten teacher in the running for future Space Shuttle mission (Okay, this is pretty eerie. She ultimately wasn't selected...for the ill-fated "Challenger" Mission. That had to have been a relief for her)
6. Latest plastic surgery techniques (What an odd segment)

  • Senator Garn flew on Discovery, which launched three days after the newscast.

Mrs. Walling, the teacher who didn't get to fly in space, continued to teach at that elementary school for a number of years, before retiring to write full-time. Her son, who was briefly interviewed, was apparently instrumental in the development of EverQuest. Googlestalking complete strangers is fun!

Louise Stratten would go on to marry Peter Bogdanovich in 1988. Bogdanovich was her sister's bf. Ewwww.

  • I remember when channel 46 used to be on cable here in San Jose
