To create solid bases - yes, two of them - for his new bell stand, Kevin cuts and fits pieces using the slip roll, hammer, shear and plasma cutter, then welds the pieces into place between the structural supports. Making the base solid gives the stand for this bell, whose working title is BobbyPin, greater rigidity and strength. To see how this piece develops, visit http://www.kevincaron.com

  • Another good video. Could you use carboard to do the shape and save an extra trip to the slip roller?

  • Great idea!! I have used cardboard and paper to make patterns. The problem I ran in to was I would then have all this paper in the area where the sparks from the welder can set them on fire!!!!!

    (True Story)

I burned up a set of plans for a commission I was working on because I left them on the work bench.

For me it's fun just to use the tools and the exercise walking back and forth is good for me also.

  • If you decide to use cardboard again I can loan you my hot glue gun I used on the one cardboard markup I made. :-)

Nice to see the beginnings...naturally, I haven't been notified that this video existed yet. Nice one...as usual!
