Julio Osegueda after Obama Town Hall in Fort Myers, Florida

Julio Osegueda, a student and employee at a local McDonalds, was the last person chosen by President Obama to ask a question at at the Town Hall meeting held in Fort Myers, Florida, on February 10, 2009. (I had been providing live Twitter updates for the local newspaper, The Fort Myers News-Press, for the event.) I visited with him in the street while we were waiting for the presidential motorcade, and he gave me this little statement for video posterity. While I was visiting with him, the Keith Olbermann Show and NBC contacted him on his cell phone for interviews. So I asked for his autograph. And his e-mail address. I doubt he'll just be a McDonald's employee anymore

He and I were just visiting on the street afterward, quite casually, and I asked him to simply speak into my camera, no interview, no preset questions or topics, he could say whatever he wanted. I simply turned off the camera at the end of his statement. So what you see there is simply what he felt like saying at the time, very sincere and enthusiastic.

Guy has low expectations. I'd personally rank meeting the President- even this one- slightly ahead of recieving a PS3 for Christmas. BTW- how does a guy that works at McDonald's and wants better benefits have time for PS3? Who cares, I guess- but it'd be nice if maybe someone bought him a stack of games for the PS3 so he's too busy to vote in 2012...Just sayin'.
