Be careful before jumping in: it's not a Ural engine of any description, and while the stripped one is in an M72 plunger frame the full outfit's running a Dnepr chassis ... and they're not Dnepr engines either. I wouldn't want to stick my neck on the line and say they're definitely VW engines - don't know them well enough - but it looks a bit like the motor in "Dnieper Ural VW Motorcycle" by dneprdriver. Anyone know for sure?

Thats not a VW engine. It's a Ural. It's a Soviet copy of the old pre WWII BMW R71 engine. They were produced for the Soviet army during WWII and continue in production virtually unchanged to this day. Being a boxer configuration like most BMW bike engines it does resemble a VW air cooled car engine, however.
