  • Not the kit my friend..... thats just the camera sound.

  • WHo cares about the kit? THis just proves that if you're playing F'ing music it doesn't matter. It sounds amazing and he's so nazty (as always)!!

The camera is definitely picking up the bottom snare head, which is uber 'thin' sounding, and the kick is wide open and tuned up some. He makes it sing nonetheless! AnyBODY that can take something that sounds that raw and make it groove that hard IS music. Genius.

I hereby command all douche bags to stop criticizing that which doesn't matter. Music.

  • Well I think that sound is perfect, natural as a Jazz kit, is not matter the brand of kit. The most important is the size, 18x14, 12x8, 14x14 with head drums coated.

  • @yrrepzepol Probably whatever they had available.I know he often used to request Pearl drums way back in the early nineties when he was on the road. Even though BS is at the top of his proffession, I doubt wether he can always get his faovurite drums on the road .. I think the recording Q does not do the kit sound any favours... still, great playing, great solo..

  • weenisimo

  • i think they might be Pearl. but as the man said it's not a problem with the drums it's the shit recording quality i imagine. sometimes the room they play in will not help, like it might have a lot of top end echo etc. In this case , any drum kit will struggle to sound good. i think drums sound best in a dryer accoustic but not too dry.. you know..

  • Ive' seen John Scofield 5 times live. I wonder if I saw Bill stewart and didn't realise it was him.

  • [Obviously thats the first bad camera sounding video that you come acrros] ... Even if thats not a Gretsch..... do you believe he'd play live with such a poor sound that? I dont know even if its possible to get a sound distorted like with any drums. Well, as I said, there are plenty of videos here on Youtube with these same characteristics. You'll get used to it, some day.

[Anyway, whats you thing with Gretschs???]

  • Bullshit, listen to that bass drum, that's embarrassing, I can't even believe that's Bill Stewart. Those are not Gretsch!
