The National Weather Service was predicting an outbreak of tornadoes due to a weather pattern that was similar to one that produced 39 tornadoes in 1974. Instead, all we got was a nice lightning show and News Chopper 9 from the ABC affiliate in Kansas City hovering over us.

  • We were all VERY lucky that night. If the sky had opened up a little more during the day, things could have been a lot worse.

  • AMAZING footage - anvil crawler (spider) lightning my favorite - windy here in Texas, too, but thank God no tornadoes - been a bad year!

  • oops sorry for that question, I got info right here!!! lol. I just looked at the storm reports for 6/5/08 on NWS, there actually was a lot of tornadoes produced from this storm, spreading all throughout the state of Kansas, so basically their forecasting was correct. Do you watch the weather?

  • in other areas did the storm produce tornadoes?

  • I remember this storm!

Seems like it was only yesterday...
