My final thoughts on the application process.

Since the American deadline is next Tuesday, the 25th, I hope most of you have already sent your application in. But you can still send it on Monday via overnight Fed Ex and it will make it.

Good luck to all of you!

I'll be back with vlogs about the JET interview process in the new year.

I still get questions about being a JET and I hope to answer them via video responses on my TaishaJason channel.

Mata ne,
Jason

  • So, two copies of every document in the package and for multiple page documents (i.e. SoP letter), paperclip them together?

Also, should it all (every document) go into one big envelope (the kind with the metal clasp) ?

  • @11889music yes - everything goes in one big envelope - like a large manilla envelope and write all the info on the outside - address of the consulate - your return address - and then most likely you're going to want to take that envelope down to UPS or Fed Ex and have them send it to Washington so you can track the package and know that it arrived and was signed for. Paper clips are fine - staples used to be a no-no

  • One thing I noticed that they stressed for the 2009 application is that they actually state that there should be no blanks even when not applicable. If there are blanks, they said the application would then be discarded.

I figure this is another way they weed out people :p

  • good to know

  • You mentioned one letter of rec. was from a women at a high school you worked at.

How'd you end up working at a high school?

I was wondering because it sounds like a perfect reference for a letter of rec. and I might do the same in a couple years.

  • When I was in HS, I was a member of my school's academic decathlon team. When I was finishing college, the teacher/coach I had then was teaching at a local HS and asked if I would come coach their Ac-Dec team. And I did and it was a great job.

  • @myargonauts

    Nice Jersey. Go Chargers!

  • Or N/A.

  • So are you just supposed to write "not applicable" or something like that?

  • Don't like fish?? Isn't that heresy in Japan? =0
