This is the second release of "Still life" time lapse. The movie consists of 8832 photos taken from 08.February 2011 to 14.March 2011.
This livefeed presents the art project Still Life, an ice sculpture in the form of a wall around an abandoned Sami house outside the world's northernmost city, Hammerfest, in the Norwegian Arctic. The ice sculpture was frozen solid 5. February 2011 and will stand until it thaws. Still Life is a memory of a place, of the people who lived here and those who left; and it reminds us of stories which to some are intimate - and totally unknown by the rest of us. Still Life also addresses the relationship between Norwegian and Sami populations, and a century old effort to create a Norwegian identity among the Sami. It also addresses the forced integration and detention of the Sami and the banning of peoples and languages. The house was reconstructed for a Sami family after World War II.Still Life implies silent life, but also its double meaning; still life. So, I am wondering how this "ice castle" got made -- is it part of an art installation? And where is it? The night scenes with the light shining through it are fun -
