Leaked Lobbying Firm's Memo Spells Out Plan to Undermine Occupy Wall Street - described as a "hit job"

Sat Nov 19, 2011 8:53 AM EST

A well-known Washington lobbying firm with links to the financial industry has proposed an $850,000 plan to take on Occupy Wall Street and politicians who might express sympathy for the protests, according to a memo obtained by the MSNBC program "Up w/ Chris Hayes."

The proposal was written on the letterhead of the lobbying firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford and addressed to one of CLGC's clients, the American Bankers Association.

CLGC's memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct "opposition research" on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct "negative narratives" about the protests and allied politicians. The memo also asserts that Democratic victories in 2012 would be detrimental for Wall Street and targets specific races in which it says Wall Street would benefit by electing Republicans instead.

  • Occupy Wall Street is doing a fine job of undermining themselves . Occupy Wall Street = lifes losers .

  • why cant they just use the fema camps against the occupy movement. I am pretty sure if you are not for the government you are a terrost.... am i not right has that not been made clear? also the new law will make it legal to round them all up and use torture against them without any notice... this would be some cool reality tv ; )

  • Remove the political influence of the 1% and give it to the 99%

  • @Inquisitor53 -thank yo, you too

  • @Inquisitor53 BTW... MERRY CHRISTMAS to you & yours, BxCAD!

  • @BxCAD But it's such fun pointing out (if not to them, then to others) the hypocrisy of their "movement", watching them become their own enemy the instant they blame others for their problems instead of themselves. As for their name-calling & useless chatter, I love when they direct it at me. It proves they can't respond with facts or logic, or face the truth about themselves or their leaders and they've lost the argument the second they start ranting. So I tell them all, "Bring it on!"

  • "The Federal Reserve banks are one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever seen. There is not a man within the sound of my voice who does not know that this nation is run by the International bankers." -- Congressman Louis T. McFadden (Rep. Pa)

  • @Inquisitor53 <----------------Do not react to these people. Their comments have no facts and no compassion so they are useless. You can easily identify these misinformed/uneducated people, they ALWAYS call names with useless chatter. This person is destroyed on the inside, superficial and lost, don't reply to his comments, pray for him.

  • "It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." -- Henry Ford

  • "The regional Federal Reserve banks are not government agencies. ...but are independent, privately owned and locally controlled corporations." -- Lewis vs. United States, 680 F. 2d 1239 9th Circuit 1982
