In this episode I assess the damage done to the fiberglass hardtop after years of neglect and look at what parts need replacing and what needs to be done to bring it back to it's former glory.

  • I have a 1978 MG midget with a after market Parris Company hard top. Do you know were i can find new seals for it. It looks similar in shape to yours. I have looked everywhere for the seals to no avail..

  • well on my top, the seals around the door windows are the same fuzzy weatherstrip goes around the doors on the car. The front seal is a standard header rail seal. The only tough one is the seal that goes around the back. I have yet to find a source for that but if you can take a sample of it and compare it to the profiles displayed on the websites of weatherstrip suppliers you might find something that'd work.

  • Its too bad no one show up to help you with the hard top MG folks are not usauly like that. Hey I have the same hardtop. I bought it from a 80 year old guy for $150 not bad! I still need to restore mine Most of the gasket are shot.Keep posting

  • I will. This will be the last post for a bit. I'll try to shoot more footage next week of what I can, but I wont be making real headway for a while. Likly I will explore some of the modifications I have done, like the rivergate 5 speed conversion, the gas tank renu that I just did, and another factory option. Eventually I will also do some stuff with my brothers bgt project, and I also hope to go to some chicagoland mg club tech sessins and post those too.

  • @YoshiJumper Victoria British sells one. $1200

  • hey i have a midget 77 and im having trouble finding a good place to find a hardtop similar to yours........anybody know any good sites

  • I have a factory hard top on my 77 midge. Those extra holes next to the clamps have clips in on mine. I seem to remember some one saying that they marry up to the older style of header/hood connection but I don't think they changed that radically. Maybe a clip for some sort of sunvisior? Who knows.
