@hula89 Think it was from a musical called Carousel from around 1950 and Celtic were the first sing it in an organised way. A lot of other clubs also sang it but Liverpool claimed it was theirs because Gerry and the Pacemakers, a Liverpool mersey beat group, had a top ten hit with it around the early 1960's. Celtic had been using it however far earlier than this.

bollock*** Celtic were the first by years and every club used to sing it until the theiving scouse gits did what they do best and robbed it and then performed their well known magic act of self delusion thinking Jerry and the pacemakers even wrote it. Best rendition from Anfield was when they played Everton a couple of seasons ago and just as the Kop opened up with this song Everton went and scored. Maigic, shut them right up.

To put you straight lw7h24e this song was, hard to believe, a Manchester United song after the Munich disaster and it was Liverpool that took it off Manchester United.
